Invitation : Form and Formed at Paramount Gallery

Dear Friends,

Please join us for the opening reception of Form and Formed on Friday, May 4, 2007 from 5:00 ?8:00 p.m. at the Community Arts @ Paramount Gallery. Meet with the featured artists and fellow art enthusiasts.

Form and Formed runs until June 9 and features ceramic and installation work by Suk Jin Choi and work by architect Yu-Chih Hsiao.

Suk Jin Choi received her BFA and MFA degrees in Ceramics at Ewha Woman�s University in Seoul, Korea. She came to America in 2003 to teach traditional Korean Ceramics Surface Decoration at Virginia Commonwealth University. Choi has had eight solo and participated in numerous group exhibitions. She is a recipient of various awards including Special Awards of Seoul Contemporary Ceramic Arts Competitions in Korea. She taugth several workshops and lectures on traditional Korean Ceramics Surface Decoration and has written many articles for The Korea Times and Ceramic Art Monthly in Korea. Currently, she is completing her second MFA degree in Ceramics at Cranbrook Academy of Art.

Choi�s work concerned with memory and the tracing of time. Through delicate, yet crucial blend between traditional Korean surfacing methods and contemporary objects, she creates ceramic sculptures that talk about passing of time and space.

Born in Taipei, Yu-Chih Hsiao is currently completing his Master of Architecture degree at Cranbrook Academy of Art.  He received his BFA in Interior Space Design from Shih-Chien University, Taipei in 1998 as well as his Diploma of Photography and Printing from the World College of Journalism and Communication, Taipei in 1994.Yu-Chih has developed his varied interests both separately and simultaneously for more than ten years through the fields of design, architecture and fine art. Recently he has been investigating how to use technology, materiality, pattern, structure and architectural tectonics, to weave his multi-directional process into contemporary social content.

Randy Hou and his 747

following article was writting in mandrien, mentioned about my friend, Randy Hou, a young generation film director in Taiwan, premiering his new film "my 747" in the public television
channel in Taiwan. recently, the film was been invited to play on the Fu-San Film Festival, Korea.

電視上報導著南亞大海嘯的傷亡人數一下子就變成八萬人了,看著眼前傳來的畫面,盤算著要怎麼捐款,正生著病的這身體一下子好像更充滿了無力感,關上電視,一個人默默的洗著碗,旁邊鍋裡中午媽媽特地幫我煮的魚湯還有大半,明天還可以吃上一天,也許可以煮成稀飯,回到電腦面前,順手收了一下信,這才發現大少昨天寄來的信夾雜在一堆股票投資訊息中,打開一看,原來是大少拍的公視片妻似漆就快要在電視上放映了,真是好樣的,拜他所賜,我也順便登錄了這部落格,趕趕這數位日記流行,算算日子,之前在魅力站的個人電子報已經一年多沒有發報了, 最後一篇竟也是年報,懶惰懈怠的情況和我與遠方女友熱烈通訊的頻率洽成反比,當然還有更多的原因,不過那些也都不重要了,現下的我正在準備申請美國研究所的作品集,一方面用自己頑固的英文學習習慣和托福猛獸搏鬥中,手邊還有遠在宜蘭,開工在即的新工作,這些事務一點一點的編織成一方圍城,而我坐在其中,每天只有在飢餓時短暫出門覓食,其他時間大多坐在我這臨時用木板在房裡架起的簡單桌面前,還好屁股下有著一把舒適的老醫師椅,支撐著我內心的慌亂與不安,腳邊兩條延長線上插滿了各種電器,它們分別連接著,工作上網談戀愛簡直萬用的acerTravelMate270筆記型電腦,最近常常要一次印四十五張A3施工圖的HPdeskject1180c印表機,一部SonyT1數位相機的傳輸座,一部修好不久女友名下Fuji50i日文介面數位相機的充電座,SonyErissonT610的手機充電器,女友壓箱的Panasonic電動削鉛筆機,銀色的Kingtel室內電話分機,老的很經典的AIWA CA-R20卡式錄音機,用很久物超所值的Acer三角形防磁喇叭,年紀一大把的Philips機種不明的黑膠電唱機,外殼常常分家的外接硬碟,最近又救活的PalmVX PDA,RICOHmp7320A外接燒錄機,為了女友而買最近常常在用的TecoYN1224CB電暖器,OnkingTurboDryer1000吹風機,用很久可是大概沒人聽過的"雅品牌"檯燈,這些電器怪獸一一點名找出名字排列成行,說真的,還真蠻有感覺的,每一個物件也都和我有著些許的感情或連結 也難怪大少會對他的妻似漆(正確名稱是「DNU-747」)那麼感情充沛了,以上,就算是這初體驗的部落格吧,不過,打完這篇文字,似乎也讓我對大少的妻似漆影片更加充滿期待與好奇,

《我的747》首播與發表會
親愛的大家:我陸陸續續拍了半年多的紀錄短片《我的747》終於在年底之前完成,並且排定在下星期四(1/6)晚上10點播出了請大家行行好,幫我增加一點收視率吧(因為製作人第一次見面時就說了:「我要收視率!」:P)大家可以放心這不是另一部拍空房子的昏睡實驗片而是一部以即將報廢的摩托車為主角的小紀錄片(異口同聲:怎麼好像差不多?)這部摩托車的名字叫「DNU-747」從我大學三年級的暑假開始一路陪伴我到今天從1996到2004我們一起走過了20歲到30歲的點點滴滴那麼長的時間裡人會變老,車會變舊我們一起奔跑過的城市與國家也經歷了颱風地震政黨輪替和八年前大大的不同了然而,倒塌掉和興建起的城市裡我和747仍然在一起雖然我們有時候失散,有時候賭氣,有時候寂寞但是,只要我們還在一起就像臺北市裡百萬個機車族一樣儘管有無數個看起來毫無希望的灰塵與下雨的塞車時刻偶爾我們還是會不期然地遇到一個陽光明亮的早晨一起哼著歌,相親相愛地跑在空空的馬路上那一刻彷彿我們愛到哪,就到哪...為了那一刻,也為了747等待我的每一刻我寫了這封給747的信裡面有用ENG拍的大學畢業作品片段,也有違規被拍照的證據照片拼湊之間,8年時光就這麼流過了希望你看完後,會想起你的747新年快樂:)季然--公視觀點短片展發表會1/5(三)pm1400在誠品敦南店B2現場會放映影片,備有茶點歡迎光臨喔:)《我的747》播出時間1/6 PM22001/7 AM100053頻道/公共電視「紀錄觀點」節目之2004觀點短片展「747通信」網站 http://747report.blogspot.com/
